UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest Results

Congratulations to all of our Central High School musicians who competed this Memorial Day weekend at the UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest at the University of Texas in Austin. 32 students from the Central High School Choirs qualified and competed at the state-level contest on Monday. CHS Choir students took home 9 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 2 Outstanding Performer Awards.

For more information, please visit this press release. Sic ‘em, Cats!

Commemorative CDs

If you would like to order a compilation CD of this year's performances, David Faught, one of our awesome choir parents, compiles the recordings and creates a CD for each class. CDs are $5 each and should be completed by August. If you would like a CD from a previous year, those are also available. For the older recordings, when you checkout enter a note in the order for which years you'd like.

Here is the link to his Etsy shop to place your orders: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CommemorativeCDs/items

Please place your orders by June 10.

2018-2019 HarmoniCats Audition Results

Thank you for the incredible turnout we had for auditions this year. Next year promises to be the best year ever for our show choir, the HarmoniCats. We have some wonderful new talent joining us and some wonderful leaders that are returning. We are so excited for what next year holds for this incredible group of students.

If you didn't make it this time, please don't be discouraged. Please try out again at the next available audition. We really did have to make some tough decisions to keep the group balanced.

There are three steps we need you to complete IMMEDIATELY:

  1. You will find the results posted here.
  2. We need everyone who was selected to fill out this ACCEPTANCE FORM.
  3. If you have an asterisk (*) next to your name, we need your COURSE AGREEMENT. Please fill it out and email it to [email protected].

2018-2019 Choir Placements

We hope that each student will see the auditions as a learning opportunity. It is always a difficult process to determine the right placement for each individual student and to balance that with the needs of each group and the program as a whole.

A number of factors go into determining each student’s placement; it is not based solely upon a 10-minute audition: vocal quality and development, intonation, aural skill, sight-reading ability, maturity, academic eligibility, classroom discipline, attendance patterns, involvement in extracurricular elements of the program, etc. Many students have excellent abilities, but we are unable to advance or keep them because of their grades in other classes...academic eligibility is BIG.

We try to look at the complete picture in determining where the student will be able to be successful and to which group's success they will be able to most effectively contribute.

That being said, every group next year is going to be AWESOME! You will have a blast! Together, we will all reach new heights of achievement and success.

PLEASE click the link below, read everything carefully, and follow all instructions on the form. Make absolutely certain that you are subscribed to the REMIND updates. We have to be able to communicate with you over the summer, especially officers and HarmoniCats members.
